They've sometimes been thinner and flimsier. * Paper quality can vary. * Several of my recent notebooks have had faulty stitching; one page has fallen out and several others are sort of oddly attached. = alternatives? = * The MiquelriusNotebook sucks, in [Brennen]'s opinion. * [http://www.pendemonium.com/ Pendemonium sells some interesting stationery, ink, pens, etc.] * [http://loosewire.typepad.com/blog/2005/01/more_on_the_mol.html More on the Moleskine alternative] * XonexNotebook - Actually pretty decent, about $5 US. * RhodiaNotebook * PiccadillyNotebook - Outright clone. = discussion = <[BrentNewhall]> Do you own a Moleskine, Bren? Just curious, since I've seen it mentioned here a couple of times. <[Brennen]> I probably own about 14 by now. I've been using them as my main journal/idea notebooks since I got one for Christmas in (I think) 2001, so I was a relatively early convert. They're pretty much my only brand-loyalty, though I'd be happy to replace them with something cheaper if I found an option with the same or better features.
