- <[Brennen]> Inform 7 looks like an interesting project. I've had deeply mixed experiences with "natural language" efforts, but the idea of describing a textual environment in declarative prose is appealing. It also targets zcode interpreters (i.e., Frotz), which I think means about the best portability you can get for an IF-specific language.
-
- The PerlLanguage "shell" for the Linux version is atrocious; I suspect I could do better in an afternoon, unless I'm missing something, but maybe it would be easier to learn the command line tools and write a Makefile if necessary.
-
- On a related note, why isn't there a good Perl framework for writing IF? Or is it just not quite the right problem domain, mapping as gracefully as it does onto an object/verb model and having all sorts of hierarchical structure? Seems like you could go a long ways with Lingua::*, Term::ReadLine, etc.
-
- Aren't there a vast range of possible models for IF that don't rely on NSEW and "rooms"?
