- <[[Brennen]]> Sooner or later you realize that the right tools make all the difference in the world. Here's a hypothetical list of the stuff that should be in my toolbox.
-
- * General-purpose hammer.
- * Multiple screwdrivers: Phillips, flat head, and a square drive.
- * Pliers: The ordinary sort, the needlenose sort, and a pair of vice-grips.
- * Tape measure, as well as some kind of rigid straight-edge.
- * Hatchet or machete, if not both. (Functions may overlap, but the former can split firewood and drive stakes, while the latter is what you will miss when murdering weeds.)
- * Hand saw (sharp).
- * Socket set.
- * Wrench set.
- * Small pry bar.
- * Hex keys.
- * Level.
- * Chalkline.
- * Pencil or crayon, something that can leave a nice heavy line.
- * Wood chisel.
- * Nail set.
- * Putty knife / scraper.
- * Roll each of duct, electrical, drywall, and plumber's tape.
- * Couple rolls of different gauges of wire.
- * Box of miscellaneous fasteners (screws, nails, small brads, nuts and bolts, some of those little velcro fastener things).
- * Wood or rubber mallet.
- * Sandpaper.
- * Rasp/file.
- * Whetstone.
- * Can of WD-40.
- * Packet of wooden shims.
-
- Additionally, there are some things in the "too big for a box, but maybe not for the trunk of my car" category.
-
- * Sledgehammer and/or maul.
- * Large pry / wrecking / crow bar.
- * Jack.
-
- What am I leaving out?
