  10. becoming Psi Cops. Why did Lyta train as a Psi Cop if she was only a
  11. P5?"
  12. You are misremembering. She said she interned with the Psi
  13. Cops, not that she was training to be one. Psi Cops need people
  14. beneath them at various levels as assistants, collectors of evidence,
  15. and all the more ordinary stuff they don't have time to do as the
  16. elite.

  94. Be advised that Tracy Scoggins will not be there, and that
  95. others may not be there, and that this is not an official, sanctioned
  96. convention (many have emailed me to say that they thought it was
  97. sanctioned). The companies listed as "sponsors" -- Precedence
  98. Publishing and Sierra FX -- are making it clear, and making VorCon make
  99. sure it's clear, that they may be sponsoring events at the convention
  100. but they do not endorse the convention itself; also, Optic Nerve will
  101. not be bringing down an exhibit of any sort. In addition, by now they

  138. Subject: Exec Producer powers?
  139. {original post had no questions}
  140. It variers; in some cases, an exec producer is just the money
  141. person; in other cases, it can even be a studio person assigned to a
  142. project; there can be numerous exec producers with various
  143. responsibilities. Some sell the show, move on, and just collect fees.
  144. That's why the term exec producer has become almost meaningless
  145. in terms of knowing what the person actually *does*, and why it's been
  146. replaced in many ways with the term "show runner." That's the person
  147. who actually runs the show, determines the creative direction for the
  148. series, writes and oversees scripts, that sort of thing.

  196. Subject: new jms comic
  197. Posted this over on another system, figured I'd put it here as
  198. well.
  199. Just thought I'd get this thread moving, though it's still a bit
  200. early, since news has started to break in other places. Basically:
  201. I've
  202. always loved comics (no secret there), and have always wanted to do
  203. a
  204. title of my own, try to make it something special, as B5 was/is
  205. special.
  206. I created the premise, went to Top Cow (my first and only choice
  207. on
  208. this one), we met, we agreed...and now RISING STARS is set to debut
  209. next
  210. April. I've already turned in the first script (for the preview
  211. issue),
  212. and will be getting down to writing issues 0 and 1 shortly.
  213. The story follows the events after the small town of Pederson,
  214. Illinois, is struck by a mass of energy from an unknown, but non-
  215. terrestrial source. Everyone who was in utero at the time of the
  216. flash
  217. is affected, resulting in 113 individuals who develop abilities of a
  218. most
  219. unusual and highly individual form. (The power is to some degree
  220. shaped
  221. by who they are, just as they are shaped to some degree by the
  222. power.)
  223. It is set in a realistic universe, timed to real-world events
  224. (it
  225. covers a span of about 60 years, starting in about 1969), where
  226. there
  227. have never been super-powered individuals before. It looks at how
  228. the
  229. world reacts to them, and how they react to the world. We follow
  230. these
  231. characters through their early years, into adulthood and to the ends
  232. of
  233. their lives, mapping all the changes they go through, and how they
  234. change
  235. the world.
  236. It's an extremely ambitious 24 issue miniseries (with the
  237. potential
  238. to go back and further develop any of the stories presented earlier
  239. along
  240. the way).

  247. Well, they'll have the scripts in plenty of time, so I can't see
  248. any reason why there would be any problem in schedule. I've learned in
  249. B5 how to maintain a schedule.
